Key outputs, maps, and deliverables from this project.

Building & Unit-level precision

Especially relevant for flood disasters, buildings have been spatially disaggregated down to the unit level and floor.

Stochastic Risk Modelling

Stochastic risk models have been compiled for earthquakes, flood, wind and hail providing AAL and PML estimates on structures and building contents.

Building Exposure Modelling

We extended the available census data and closes data gaps to provide an as-complete-as-possible view on building categories, heights, usage classes, age and building materials.

In collaboration with Swiss Re Solutions, we developed highly detailed exposure models and building-level loss model covering the entirety of France and the Netherlands. This large-scale assessment bridges advanced hazard modeling with physical building characteristics to evaluate nationwide risk profiles and precise asset valuations.

Project Highlights

  • Comprehensive Exposure Modeling: Mapped tens of millions of buildings across both countries, capturing specific usage categories and key physical properties (e.g., height, number of storeys, footprint, and wall/roof materials) down to the unit-level.
  • Advanced Valuation Metrics: Calculated detailed financial metrics for every structure, providing accurate replacement, time, and reconstruction values.
  • Multi-Peril Risk Scoring: Developed building-level risk models for four primary hazards. This includes calibrated, Average Annual Loss (AAL)-based scores for Earthquake and Wind, alongside relative risk scores for Flood and Hail.
